Why Choose ActiveBarrier® for my Surgical Needs?
More Options for Ideal Handling
in Every Application
ActiveBarrier® membranes are sterile allografts carefully processed from human amniotic and placental tissues. Available in three thicknesses, ActiveBarrier® membranes are designed for optimal handling across a variety of applications.
The biologic components of these tissue, which include a complete viable BioECM® preserved by the HydraTek® process, have been shown to:
What is ActiveBarrier?
ActiveBarrier® is crafted from the various layers of the placenta & processed with Hydratek® Technology, which preserves tissue structure & biologic integrity. The Hydratek® BioAware® system scientifically controls moisture levels to an ideal state. This preserves the tissue structure and biologic integrity vs. traditional heat baking or lyophilization systems, and avoids the use of harsh chemicals or cross-linking agents. Read more about the unique HydraTek® process here.
What are the HydraTek® Process Benefits?
FastActing® Membrane Performance
HydraTek® membranes are FastActing®; they are specifically designed to resorb faster and go to work quicker.
BioAware® Preservation System
Scientifically controls moisture levels while carefully preserving the natural tissue structure without compromising it through traditional lyophilization (freeze-drying), heat-baking, or chemical cross-linking methods.
HydraTek® products are proven to be immunosuppressive, modulating the inflammatory response which can lead to rejection and failure.
What is the Biologic Potential?
ActiveBarrier® Product Options
ActiveBarrier®45 is a thinner graft, derived from amnion membrane, providing a versatile graft for most applications. It has a nominal thickness of 45 microns.
ActiveBarrier®200 is thicker, chorion-based graft, providing alternative handling characteristics and improved visibility for minimally invasive and other applications. It has a nominal thickness of 200 microns.
ActiveBarrier®2000 is our thickest, suturable, placental membrane graft. The enhanced durability of this membrane makes it ideal for many surgical applications. It has a nominal thickness of 2000 microns.
ActiveBarrier® Product Benefits
ActiveBarrier® adheres naturally to the patient’s tissues without need for sutures or other fixation. (ActiveBarrier®2000 can be sutured if desired).
ActiveBarrier®45 & 200 can be applied in either direction, with no orientation restrictions.
ActiveBarrier® membranes are FastActing®; they are specifically designed to resorb faster and go to work quicker.
ActiveBarrier®2000 is suturable.
ActiveBarrier® membranes have been shown to suppresses immune response & modulate inflammation.
ActiveBarrier® is provided sterile in a dual peel-pouch, and may be introduced to the sterile field.
ActiveBarrier®45 & 200 are stored at ambient temperature (50-86°F/10-30°C) until ready for use. Product has a 5 year shelf life. ActiveBarrier® 2000 is fresh-frozen, and can be stored (-20°C or colder for short term storage up to 6months) until ready for use, either in its cryo-cooled shipping container, or in a freezer. Store in freezer at -40°C or colder for long term storage up to 5 years.
